Suicide Kids - Synopsis

Malcolm Holt (Gene Gallerano) was a normal kid until his kindergarten teacher sent him home to his parents with a suicide note pinned to his sweater; now four months out of college, unemployed, and stuck living with his mother (Jill Knell), Malcolm is struggling to find his way as a developing photographer.

Content to let the world forget him, Malcolm dawdles away his days drinking and getting stoned with his friends – until a series of prophetic dreams about his friends leaving, his ex-girlfriend (Freya Moran) returning home, and his dead father (Josh Tane) reaching out to him propel him to find the catharsis he has need his entire life.

Looking for help, Malcolm discovers his best friend Lincoln (Ian Bell) is too worried about his girlfriend’s waning affections to offer much support, while his other best friend Jess (Samantha Holden) is too excited about starting a job in Manhattan (and escaping from Westchester) to recognize his distress. All the while, Malcolm’s dreams become more vivid and disturbing.

His suburban life falling apart, Malcolm seeks counsel from Gregory Crowley (Tom Slot), better known around town as the Holy Hustler, a mystic and pool shark. Gregory takes Malcolm under his wing, offering him spiritual support and a place to sleep after his mother kicks him out for blowing off one too many job interviews.

Meanwhile, Malcolm runs into his ex-girlfriend Mara, just as he dreamt, when she returns home. Despite the lingering tension between them, Mara reluctantly accepts Malcolm’s overtures of friendship, and the two begin rekindling feelings that never quite burned out.

But as the whispers of his dead father grow louder in Malcolm’s mind, neither Gregory nor Mara are able to give Malcolm the peace he needs. Turning to meditation, Malcolm comes close to deciphering the hidden meaning beneath his dreams. But his efforts hit a wall when one of his closest friends commits suicide and Malcolm is forced to confront what he’s been running from since kindergarten.
